A Day in the Life of InterCatering’s Refugee Meal Service
Serving hundreds of meals daily to Ukrainian refugees across the Netherlands requires precision, dedication, and heart. Here’s how our team makes it happen — from the kitchen to the serving line.
6:00 AM – Starting with Fresh Ingredients
Our chefs begin early in the morning, preparing traditional Ukrainian meals such as kotlety, cabbage rolls, and fresh soups. All meals are made from scratch using fresh, local high-quality ingredients.
9:00 AM – Cooking & Coordination
As meals are cooked, our planning and logistics teams coordinate schedules based on that day’s attendance figures at each shelter. Every dish is planned around cultural familiarity and dietary needs.
11:30 AM – Quality Control & Packing
Once ready, meals are packed into HACCP-certified thermal containers — ensuring safe transportation of both cold dishes like salads and hot dishes. We guarantee strict hygiene and temperature control throughout the process.
12:00 PM – Delivery Across the Country
Deliveries begin in the early afternoon. In Amsterdam, we provide chilled meals ready to be reheated and served hot. In Katwijk and Noordwijk, meals arrive by 17:00, hot and ready for immediate buffet-style service from bain marrie trolley .
2:00 PM – Planning for Tomorrow
The planning team reviews feedback, adjusts portion sizes, and fine-tunes menus for the next day based on dietary requests and updated shelter data.
No Days Off – 7 Days a Week
We deliver 7 days a week, 365 days a year — because nutrition doesn’t take a break. Every meal we prepare aims to restore dignity, comfort, and cultural connection for those who’ve been displaced.
